Procedures for Reserving Courthouse Facilities for Mediations
Use of Courthouse Facilities for Mediation
Members of the Court Mediation Panel may reserve court facilities for mediations conducted pursuant to their service as members of the Mediation Panel. Court facilities may not be used for private mediations.
The following individuals are available to assist with room reservations for mediations to be held at divisional courthouses:
-
Los Angeles (First Street) – ADR Program Office at [email protected]
(see below for additional instructions)
-
Santa Ana – Melissa Alcaide – (714) 558-7321
Note: Counsel should bring a draft settlement agreement and a thumb drive to mediation. In the Attorney Lounge on the tenth floor of the courthouse, a desktop computer and printer are available to you for the purpose of finalizing agreements. - Riverside – Dominic Estrada – (951) 328-4475
-
Santa Barbara – [email protected]
Note: Space in the Santa Barbara Courthouse is controlled by the Bankruptcy Court; please review that court’s procedures for reserving space: https://www.cacb.uscourts.gov/policy-governing-limited-use-court-space and https://www.cacb.uscourts.gov/procedures-request-use-bankruptcy-court-space
FOR LOS ANGELES (First Street Courthouse) ONLY: Due to the heavy use of facilities at the Los Angeles location, please observe the following procedures:
- When you arrive at the courthouse, please check in at the ADR Suite (Room 4159) on the 4th Floor of the courthouse. Advise counsel that both they and their client(s) should wait outside Room 4159 until you usher them into the ADR Suite.
- Please request conference room reservations as far in advance as possible -- by email only to [email protected]. Include “ROOM RESERVATION” in the subject line of your email. Be sure that you receive confirmation of your reservation by reply email.
- Please be aware that the number of rooms you reserve will be the number of rooms available to you on the day of the mediation. Do not assume that any unoccupied rooms are available for your use.
- Occasionally, room locations will be changed. You will be notified of the new location when you check in.
- Counsel should bring a draft settlement agreement and a thumb drive to the mediation. Monica is available in the ADR Suite to help you print and copy final settlement agreements. WiFi is available to counsel in the ADR Suite.
- Should your mediation cancel, advise the ADR Program at [email protected] as soon as possible so that the rooms may be offered to other mediators.
Thank you for your cooperation.
