Second Amended: Highly Sensitive Documents (HSDs)

The Administrative Office of the United States Courts has provided notice of wide-spread breaches of both private sector and government computer systems, including serious security vulnerabilities in the Case Management/Electronic Case Filing (CM/ECF) system, and has called upon courts to implement new security procedures to protect Highly Sensitive Documents (HSDs).

The Central District of California has modified the definition of HSDs as non-classified, sealed documents filed by the U.S. Attorney’s Office involving criminal activity related to the investigation of public officials, cybersecurity, terrorism, intellectual property, or trade secrets where there are foreign or nation-state interests on the one hand, and the national interests of the United States on the other hand. There will be no official changes to court procedures, except with respect to U.S. Attorney’s Office filings.
